B'Nafshee (For My Life) Class

B'Nafshee (For My Life) is a class for those who have gone through the week long Be In Health Retreat, and are looking for more support as they walkout their healing. This class covers the teachings taught during the retreat at a slower pace, allowing for more discussion and absorption of the topics. For more information, click the Get Started button below.

Connections Class
with Ava Batts
The Connections Class is for anyone new to Congregation Shema Yisrael, or to the faith. It covers the Foundations of Faith, Prayer, Bible Study, Immersion in Water and the Ruach HaKodesh, and Messianic Lifestyle. This class meets every other month after service.

Davidic Dance Class
with Shaya Greathouse
Davidic dance, a powerful expression of worship, is a Jewish tradition that can be found throughout Messianic congregations in services and special events. This class will teach the basic steps and dances that are used in service, and will help you connect to God through this unique form of worship. Class is offered after service on second and fourth sabbaths every month.
Freedom in Messiah Course

Freedom in Messiah is devoted to helping believers resolve personal and spiritual conflicts. Believers overcome temptation, break mental strongholds, and become mentally and emotionally free from the past, by understanding, and living according to the truths taught by Messiah Yeshua (Jesus).

Grace Course
with Pastor Tom Burgo
The Grace Course helps believers to understand God’s grace and be motivated by God’s love alone, enabling disciples to bear much fruit. Believers can learn to be the person God made you to be; serve out of love rather than "performing" for God or people; rid yourself of condemning thoughts, guilt and shame; have a good self-image regardless of your past; and serve out of genuine rest.

Healing a Father's Heart

Fathers are "silent, wounded warriors", suffering from fear, anxiety, anger, guilt, grief, and depression post-abortion. This study helps men acknowledge and face their inner turmoil. Men will learn about God's unchanging, loving character, and his desire to forgive them and heal their father-hearts.

Her Choice to Heal

Her Choice to Heal offers a road map to healing – practical suggestions, resources for help, space to journal, with the encouragement and hope found in Messiah alone. Post-abortive women are led on the difficult journey through denial, anger, and grief, to forgiveness, redemption, and letting go.

Messianic Judaism Class
with Rabbi Jim Appel
The Messianic Judaism Class grafts Jewish and non-Jewish people into their Jewish roots, and into the congregation. It is great for new believers and those interested in learning more about Messianic Judaism. The group studies Messianic Judaism, and the foundational beliefs, history, vision and organization of our congregation in an informal discussion group atmosphere that promotes new friendships with the goal of helping people become knowledgeable members of Congregation Shema Yisrael.

T'Shuvah (Repentance) Prayer & Study

T'Shuvah Prayer and Study's goal is prayer and personal growth. This class is broken up into two sections; personal and corporate prayer focusing on the prayer topic of the week, and a topical bible study emphasizing growth in a person's walk with God. Meetings occur Thursdays from 7-8 pm via Zoom.

T'vilah (Immersion) Class
with Rabbi Jim Appel
This class is for anyone who is interested in being immersed in water. Usually run in conjunction with the Connections Class, or at Shavuot, this class explains why we believe in immersion in water, and it's connection with the infilling of the Ruach Hakodesh.
Hebrew Classes

Hebrew with Joy! Learning Simple Hebrew with the Scriptures
Hebrew I - Beginner
with Judith Benhamou
An Introduction to Biblical Hebrew covers the Hebrew Aleph Bet and vowels. This class is for anyone (generally 18yrs+) wanting to begin learning how to read Biblical Hebrew. It is usually offered in the fall, after the feasts, on Mondays from 6-8pm.

Hebrew with Joy! in the Biblical Feasts
Hebrew II - Intermediate
with Judith Benhamou
Hebrew in the Biblical Feasts is for adults (generally 18yrs+) who are familiar with the Hebrew Aleph Bet. It includes extended vocabulary related to the Feasts and holidays celebrated by the Jewish people and goes into a deeper understanding about the Biblical Feasts of Israel found in Leviticus 23. This class is generally offered in the spring, on Mondays from 6-8pm.

Hebrew with Joy! Introduction to Hebrew Grammar using the Holy Scriptures
Hebrew III - Advanced
with Judith Benhamou
Advanced Hebrew III is and introduction into Hebrew grammar and requires students already have an understanding the Hebrew aleph-bet and vowels. This class is offered to adults 18 years+ as interest demands and takes place on Mondays from 6-8pm.
Children's Classes

B'Nei Mitzvot
with Judith Benhamou
This class is specifically for children wanting to become Bar/Bat Mitzvah as part of their preparation for their celebrated event. Children must be at least 11 years old to start this class. Registration is required for this class so that materials can be purchased. Sign up will be announced at least 1 month prior to class. There is a parent/student meeting prior to class start. Classes are offered as needed on Shabbat mornings from 9am-9:50am in the children' classroom.

Junior Messianic Judaism
with Judith Benhamou
Youth 12 to 18 are invited to become Junior Members of Congregation Shema Yisrael. This is a 12 hour class offered over 2 days and is full of fun, interactive activities, solid teaching and discussions to help our Youth gain a deeper understanding of Messianic Judaism. This class is offered on an as-needed basis.
